_____________________DIE BLOGGER REPORTAGE AUS COPENHAGEN (2/5) Hotspot-Cafè "Bang & Jensen" in Copenhagen .
___________________________ The best Hotspot Café in Copenhagen is located in the west part of town (Vesterbro) in "Istedgade" (street). At Bang & Jensen at Vesterbro, breakfast is served right until 4 pm. You order your meal in a most peculiar way by ticking off your choice of i.e. topping for your yoghurt on a piece of paper. The pinball machines are quite old, but very good and nostalgic, according to experts on games and worth a try none the least. On Saturday nights, Ingeborg's Cocktail Parlour is open and you can indulge in a frozen Margarita to the beats of Latin groove. Bang & Jensen is probably the café which best represents the transformation of Vesterbro from a crummy red light district into a hip colourful neighbourhood bursting with funky shops and lively joints. The Cafè is located in the upper part of Istedgade. Preowned for centuries by an old chemist family, the new owners kept a lot of the old interior, (as you can see on some of the pictures). It is a rather dark, dense and cosy café which carries the old-fashioned charm of the pharmacy it used to be. Decorated with the second-hand furniture typical of 'new-Vesterbro' (Istedgade and Vesterbrogade near Enghave), 'B-J' is the favoured watering hole for the typical 20- to 30-year-old residents, and is one of the busiest cafés in the whole of Copenhagen. Some consider Bang & Jensen to be trendy, but the spot is neither more or less hyped than Vesterbro itself, and is most welcoming. Even though this is clearly a café, there is a small area with three or four white tables just left of the entrance where one can enjoy a warm dinner, and the fact this is a non-smoking area is quite considerate.
. .
The menu offers several basic café-meals, but here is the great thing: Most meals cost only 45kr, which means that Bang & Jensen offers what is perhaps the cheapest healthy dinner in town! Bang & Jensen, on top of catching the essence of the Vesterbro atmosphere. .
